Anal stenosis
A stricture is a narrowing of a canal or vessel. In the case of anal stricture , the diagnosis is often a narrowing of the lower rectum and, more rarely, of the anal canal. Regardless of the area where this narrowing occurs, which affects the passage of stool, it causes very intense pain. In severe cases, anal stricture can completely prevent the passage of stool and cause intestinal obstruction, which leads to a medical emergency.
Anal stenosis can therefore present in various forms and be caused by many factors. Diaphragmatic, tubular, idiopathic, etc., it is sometimes a progression of Crohn's disease when the latter is not sufficiently monitored. In fact, nearly 30% of people affected by this disease develop anal stenosis .
Postoperative stenosis
Postoperative stenosis is one of the risks inherent in hemorrhoid surgery. However, it only affects 5% of patients who undergo surgery, with this rate varying depending on the surgical technique used and the quality of the procedure.
This complex operation, due to the location of the affected area, requires rigorous and constant postoperative care during the first 4 weeks. The appearance of postoperative stenosis generally occurs during the period from the 15th to the 25th day following the operation. If anal stenosis is diagnosed after the operation, the surgeon usually recommends a simple treatment consisting of anal fingering with Vaseline, which helps maintain the elasticity of the tissues.
However, postoperative anal stenosis already requires certain care and the use of an anal dilator then constitutes a more practical, more hygienic and more effective solution.
The dilator we sell is ideally shaped for penetration into this sensitive and healing area. Its wider base makes it easy for the patient to apply it on their own. Filled with a thermoaccumulator gel, it can produce a warm sensation, typical of thermotherapy, or a cold sensation, typical of cryotherapy. In both cases, the Dilatan Plus anal dilator provides rapid pain relief and, in the case of post-operative stenosis , helps limit narrowing of the canals.
