Rapid test for lactase deficiency in biopsy specimens

Biohit is an immediate lactase deficiency test that can be performed in an outpatient setting, in a testing laboratory, or in any other suitable environment. The Biohit kit contains all the necessary components to perform this test. Staff do not need any additional equipment, and it only takes about 20 minutes to provide a diagnosis to the patient.

The Biohit kit, immediate lactase deficiency test

The rapid lactase deficiency test takes about twenty minutes and follows a specific sequence. It must be performed by authorized personnel.

  • 1st Phase

The authorized person must take a biopsy sample from the duodenum. This sample must be placed on the sample plate provided in the Biohit box. Two drops of the substrate contained in the bottle numbered 1, which is also provided in the Biohit box, will be added, then the cavity in which the mixture is stagnating will be covered before shaking it 5 to 6 times vertically. The plate is then placed on any support, but clean, immobile and in a room where the ambient temperature is between 20 and 25 °C. It will be left to incubate for 15 minutes.

  • 2nd Phase

To this mixture, add a drop of the chromogenic solution from the second bottle and immediately after, 2 drops of the signaling solution from bottle no. 3. These two bottles are also part of the items contained in the Biohit box. As in the first step, the cavity is covered again and the plate is shaken vertically 5 or 6 times. The plate containing the mixture is placed back under the same conditions as previously mentioned and left to incubate for 5 minutes.

  • 3rd phase

This third phase corresponds to the reading of the immediate lactase deficiency test. After the five-minute incubation period, simply check the color of the sample using the scale on the plate. Three colors are then possible: a normal result, a mild lactase deficiency, or a severe lactase deficiency.

Biohit's Point of Care Test (POCT) is an immediate lactose intolerance test offered by MIC France. It has patent number DE600 12 723 0.
